BUTT (Broadcast Using This Tool) is a free program to broadcast your voice or your mixer to an online radio. It's the easiest one to start with.

1. Download and install BUTT

Download it from its official website (danielnoethen.de/butt) for Windows, macOS or Linux and install it like any other program.

2. Create a DJ login in your panel

In your GadeSonic Radio Systempanel, go to My radio → DJs and create a login. You'll see the details for the program: server, port, mount point, user and password. The password is only shown once: copy it.

3. Set up the server

  1. In BUTT, open Settings → Main and, under Server Settings, click ADD.
  2. Choose the type Icecast.
  3. Fill in Address (server) and Port with the details from the panel.
  4. In Password paste the login's password and in Icecast mountpoint the mount point.
  5. In Icecast user leave source unless the panel says otherwise.
  6. Enable TLS encryption if the panel says so and save with ADD.

4. Choose the audio format

In Settings → Audio select your microphone or mixer as the input device, the codec MP3 or AAC and a quality of 128 kbps (or 96 kbps for AAC). Use stereo if you play music and mono if you only talk.

5. Test and go live

  1. Press BUTT's play button to connect. At the bottom you'll see "connected" and the broadcast time.
  2. Open your radio's website on another device: within a few seconds your live show will play instead of the AutoDJ.
  3. To finish, press stop: the radio goes back to the schedule on its own.

If it doesn't connect

  • Check the server, port, mount point and password: they must match the panel exactly.
  • Check that the login hasn't expired or been revoked.
  • If you're on a company or school network, it may block outgoing connections: try another network.
  • If it sounds choppy, lower the quality or use a cable instead of wifi.
